Just finished my second reading of Eclipse by Stephenie Meyer. I’m not a Twihard. I think the books are pretty marginal in both writing and imagination and hello! Romeo and Juliet much? BUT in Eclipse, Meyer has the ability to really evoke emotions in me on behalf of Jacob. I cried. Again. And I have to say that I am really stoked about the movie coming in June. It just looks like it will be a good representation of the book. First movie? Major suckage – ummm no pun intended. Second movie, good enough for me to own it but maybe that’s because of Taylor Lautner shirtless? Third movie looks great and I am unabashedly looking forward to it.

It seems to be a bit heavy for a Christmas release but I am soooo there. I might even take off a day and see it as a matinee. If you haven’t seen the trailer then watch this one.

I don’t want anyone throwing rotten fruit my way. Here’s my take on the movie (which was friggin’ looooooong) and I’m just a movie watcher. I don’t remember the original story from my childhood. I only remembered a few names.First the good. The effects were FAN-FREAKIN’-TASTIC!!!! Sometimes the battle scenes were so chaotic that it was hard to tell who was fighting who. But it was loud, fast paced and awesome.

I love Shia LaBeouf. He makes me laugh and he’s cute enough to hold my attention and he’s a believable actor (loved him in Disturbia too). Megan Fox was pretty good as the token hot female, sorta love attraction thing. Most of the cast was good…even Josh Duhamel who is either good or very bad depending on the movie.

BUT. And this is a huge BUT. The script was craptastic and I expected much better out of Robert Orci and Alex Kurtzman (of Alias fame and Mission Impossible III). The dialogue was cringe-worthy tripe. If there had been no humans in the movie it would have rocked. But too many of the characters were over the top (the parents, Agent Simmons, the high school teacher, the black computer hacker kid). I actually laughed at moments I’m sure I wasn’t supposed to. Now one thing they did get right was the whole Bumblebee is hurt and might not make it scene towards the end. I wanted to cry, “Kill the chick and save Bumblebee!” But over all the lines were laughable and the plot not so hot. I hear there’s going to be a T2. Please let the story be much, much better than this one.

It was a 10 on effects and a 5 on dialogue so I’ll give it an 8 — cuz the CGI was awesome. Overall it mostly held up to all the hype. I won’t see it again in the theater, but I’ll definitely rent it when it comes out.
